‘Incredibles,’ ‘Up’ possibly coming to Tokyo Disneyland by 2035 in Adventureland redesign

Attractions inspired by “The Incredibles” and “Up” may open in the distant future at Tokyo Disneyland as part of a possible redesign of Adventureland.

The Oriental Land Company (OLC) shared its long-term goals as part of a 2035 management strategy presentation on April 28, 2025. These ambitions include “considering large-scale development such as area redesign at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.” Accompanying this statement were the two renderings below, seemingly resembling makeovers of Adventureland (at the original park) and Port Discovery (at DisneySea).

Zooming in reveals visuals strongly resembling Pixar films “The Incredibles” and “Up.” However, these early pieces of development artwork may or may not indicate the finished product. The first publicly shared concept for theme park projects doesn’t always indicate exactly what’s to come, whether because plans change or the preliminary artwork was never concrete to begin with. As text on the Tokyo images remind us (twice), these are artist concepts only.

Other plans proposed for OLC’s long-term vision include a new hotel (which would be Tokyo Disney Resort’s seventh) and an additional cruise ship. Japan’s first Disney cruise ship is slated to set sail by early 2029. OLC says it will assess interest in a potential second ship following the launch of the first.

OLC anticipates a timeline of 2029-2035 for these projects.

(As a reminder, OLC, not The Walt Disney Company, owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort. Walt Disney Imagineering designs all the attractions, as they do the other Disney parks.)

In the shorter-term, a refresh of Tomorrowland is currently underway. Tokyo’s Space Mountain closed last year and is slated to reopen in 2027 as an entirely new experience. The park’s Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters also recently closed permanently, to be replaced by a “Wreck-It Ralph” ride.

The resort’s most recent major project was Fantasy Springs, a new land at Tokyo DisneySea featuring high-tech attractions based on “Peter Pan,” “Tangled,” and “Frozen.”

Tokyo Disneyland’s current roster of Adventureland attractions includes:

  • The Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch presents “Aloha E Komo Mai!” (video below)
  • Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Swiss Family Treehouse
  • Theatre Orleans

Next door at Tokyo DisneySea, Port Discovery is currently comprised of:

  • Aquatopia
  • DisneySea Electric Railway
  • Nemo & Friends SeaRider
