Knott’s Merry Farm 2021 celebrates the festive season
Knott’s Merry Farm, the seasonal incarnation of Knott’s Berry Farm, offers more than a dozen festive ways to bring in the yuletide cheer.
From Nov. 19 through Jan. 2, guests visiting the California theme park will find it has undergone a transition into a wintery playscape filled with spectacular holiday shows, sparkling décor, and the chance to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Blending thousands of glittering lights, miles of bauble-strewn garland, massive snowflakes, and the sounds and smells of the holidays with the popular Peanuts characters that helped make the park famous, Christmastime at Knott’s Merry Farm is a family-friendly annual tradition.
This year, several guest favorites from past seasons return to the park, including “Home for the Holidays” musical revue, and “Merry Christmas, Snoopy!” skating show, featuring Snoopy and his Peanuts pals.
Highlights of the event include:
“Home for the Holidays”: Calico Mine Stage in the Ghost Town section of the park gets the yuletide spirit going with this old-fashioned song and dance show set to popular holiday music.
“Merry Christmas, Snoopy!”: The beloved beagle and his friends return to the Walter Knott Theater on select days in an ice-skating spectacular filled with whimsy, as Snoopy trims his Christmas tree, attends a Christmas Ball, and waits for Santa’s arrival.
Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” and “Marley’s Wings”: Bird Cage Theater in Ghost Town is the setting for the classic tale, and a new telling as the the ghost of Jacob Marley appeals to Ebenezer Scrooge, who must mend his ways for one full year so that Marley can get his angel wings. Original songs include “Raise the Rafters,” “Christmas in Heaven,” and “The Bah Hum Bug.” Select dates only.
“A Peanuts Guide to Christmas”: The Peanuts gang shares their insights on how to survive the holidays, though a mashup of their favorite seasonal songs. The gang is also available for meet-ups and photos after the show.
Seasonal live music: Knott’s vocal quartet, the Calico Carolers, evoke a Victorian Christmas ambiance as they carol along the streets of Ghost Town. The Sleigh Bells a capella group brings their soulful serenade to Calico Park, and the Fireman’s BBQ dining outlet rings with bluegrass hits as Bluegrass Duo takes to the stage.
Krazy Kirk and the Hillbilllies add a down-home, foot stompin’ good time with a Christmas twist to Wagon Camp, while the Mariachi Angelitas perform at the Fiesta Plaza Stage in a south-of-the-border show rich with traditional mariachi traditions.
Hit the dance floor at Boardwalk Ballroom’s Tinsel Top Club, where swing dancing gets into the festive spirit, while the Boardwalk welcomes the Rockin’ Reindeer musical duo, along with a homey meal at Boardwalk BBQ.
KNOT studio: Radio personalities Wayne Deer and Ginger Snaps bring their 1950s flair to the Boardwalk’s hilarious annual Christmas broadcast. Request a favorite tune, and be sure to listen for important Christmas commercials!
Santa’s Christmas Cabin: Wilderness Dance Hall in Ghost Town is transformed for the holidays into the place where families can meet the jolly old elf himself, Santa Claus. Find an array of seasonal treats here, too, including freshly baked cookies, luscious pastries, and wintery gourmet hot chocolate with marshmallows or a cold glass of milk for cookie-dunking.
Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen: Follow the scent of baking cookies straight to the North Pole, where Mrs. Claus’ trusty bakers have taken charge while she manages the elves as they prepare for Santa’s annual toy delivery. Children can help decorate cookies, and bring home their own creations. Additional fee applies.
Snow and Glow: Each evening during Merry Farm, the park lights up the night with a magical Snow and Glow dancing lights experience, which takes place on the buildings and pathways of Ghost Town. Thousands of twinkling lights perform to the beat of Christmas music, as a gentle snowfall turns the area into a spectacle of seasonal wonderland.
Knott’s Christmas Crafts Village: Dozens of local artisans join together to offer unique gifts, while select artists demonstrate their skills, including chainsaw wood carving and delicate glass blowing.
Along with live entertainment and attractions, Knott’s Merry Farm also features tastes of the season through traditional holiday classis with a twist. Try crispy breaded turkey bites filled with stuffing and cranberry sauce, or go for a festive funnel cake topped with pumpkin pie flavors and maple syrup sauce. Dig into apple pie spiced loaves, charming gingerbread cookies, and decadent chocolate and cranberry flavored macarons, each found at the park’s bakery locations.
