Kynren – The Storied Lands new ‘day park’ concept opening in the U.K. in 2026

Kynren – The Storied Lands, a new “day park” (specifically not a theme park, according to its creators), will open in summer 2026 in the U.K. with action stunt shows.

With the tagline “where legends come alive,” Kynren – The Storied Lands in County Durham will depict different eras in U.K. history, from Neolithic Britain to Victorian England. The park will be operated by charity organization 11Arches, which announced the project on Feb. 12, 2025.

Notably, though, Kynren – The Storied Lands is not a theme park, as explained by Sarah Johnson, marketing and communications manager for Discover Durham, on Sept. 13, 2025, during a U.K. conference attended by our reporter Samantha Davis-Friedman:

It’s not a theme park, it’s a day park, and what it does is it uses live action shows and immersive walk through experiences to bring fascinating stories to life, everything from Vikings to Victorians — and even a local myth of a monstrous sea creature — so, it’s going to be something to behold.

11Arches says the park’s lineup of attractions is “subject to final planning approval,” but shared what’s in the works:

  • Viking show: a “multi-sensory spectacle of Norse life” with warriors and fire
  •  “The Legend of the Wear“: a water-stunts show telling the myth of the Lambton Worm, featuring the creature ascending from the water
  • The Lost Feather“: a show performed on a giant bird’s nest which will explore bird species’ “struggles and triumphs in a rapidly changing environment”
  • Fina“: the biggest show in the park and featuring battling knights on horseback

Kynren – The Storied Lands will be located in County Durham alongside the existing nighttime show “Kynren – An Epic Tale of England,” which debuted in 2016 and performs seasonally to an amphitheater crowd of 8,000.

The area is about four hours away from Bedford, where Universal purchased land for a future theme park in 2023.

11Arches already has future plans for more attractions beyond opening day 2026, including shows called “The Lone Centurion,” “Tales of the Tudors,” and “Conquest of the Seas,” as well as attractions based on “Excalibur” and “Robin Hood.”

11Arches, a registered charity, “provides skills development, fosters local pride, and supports sustainable tourism that benefits both visitors and the region.” 1,000 volunteers mount the Kynren seasonal nighttime show as part of these efforts.

“For the past decade, we have poured passion and expertise into delivering ‘Kynren – An Epic Tale of England,’ and now we are bringing that same level of scale, innovation, and magic into this new daytime attraction,” said Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren. “You won’t just witness history — you’ll live it, feel it, and be moved by it.”

Does Kynren – The Storied Lands look like a park you’d want to visit?
