Avengers ‘Tower of Terror’ drop ride with Spider-Man, Doc Ock coming to Hong Kong Disneyland

Avengers heroes will star in a new attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland utilizing the drop ride system familiar to Disney’s Tower of Terror attractions globally.

Avengers Tower of Terror

Disney first announced the attraction during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on Aug. 10, 2024, and revealed new concept art on Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th anniversary, Sept. 12, 2025. The ride’s title has not been announced.

The new 2025 concept art depicts Doctor Strange, Thor, Black Panther, and Spider-Man in action as riders freefall. Visible in the background is Asgard, Thor’s home planet.

New concept art for the exterior reveals the attraction will take place in the Avengers’ Research Testing Labs. Captain America is visible greeting guests.

Previous concept art from 2024 depicts Spider-Man catching the elevator shaft with his webs, protecting guests from the clutches of Doc Ock.

Notably, while this ride is expected to maintain the MCU versions of its characters, the only Doc Ock in MCU live-action projects thus far is the version from the Tobey Maguire Peter Parker universe, portrayed by Alfred Molina in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” following the actor’s origination of the character in 2004’s “Spider-Man 2.”

Passengers seem unbothered by the imminent threat; gleeful, even.

A 2024 press release described the story for the upcoming Avengers “Tower of Terror”-esque attraction this way:

To ensure a better and brighter future for all mankind and the world, the most brilliant minds from the Avengers are working together and bringing new pavilions to the Stark Expo to showcase their most recent inventions and technologies. Peter Parker (a.k.a Spider-Man), the newest Stark Industries intern, is among one of them and will also be the host to demonstrate the latest breakthrough. Undoubtedly, the presence of Spider-Man will also attract one of the most formidable villains, who wreaks havoc at the scene. Peter will need all the help he can get to protect his brand-new technology while saving guests caught in the middle of the showdown.

This ride will be built from the ground up; it’s not a reimagining of an existing ride. The new attraction will expand the Stark Expo section of Hong Kong Disneyland, which also includes Iron Man Experience (a unique-to-Hong Kong ride utilizing the Star Tours ride system) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle (a reimagining of the park’s former Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters).

Meanwhile at Shanghai Disneyland, a Spider-Man roller coaster is under construction. Here’s Imagineer Scott Trowbridge announcing both the Hong Kong and Shanghai attractions in 2024:
