During his illustrious career at Walt Disney Imagineering, Rafferty brought many iconic attractions to life, including The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Test Track, “It’s Tough to Be a Bug!,” Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Toy Story Midway Mania!, Cars Land, and last but certainly not least, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

During the presentation Rafferty will share details (and a few secrets) from his 42-year career at Walt Disney Imagineering, and in particular, highlight his experiences leading the development and delivery of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – an attraction that showcases both Walt Disney’s love of trains and his best pal Mickey Mouse.

“Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is very near and dear to my heart [and] I couldn’t be more proud of the way it turned out,” Rafferty said. “You can imagine how daunting it was to deliver Mickey’s first-ever ride-through attraction, but after almost 43 years of being an Imagineer, I put all the best things I learned along the way into this attraction…so [it] was a wonderful cherry to put on the icing on the cake that ended my career. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to hop on the rails and head out than to work on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.”

The host for the event is Michael Broggie, son of Walt Disney’s original Imagineer (and Disney Legend) Roger Broggie and co-founder of the Carolwood Society, an international organization celebrating Walt’s life-long love of railroads by preserving his railroad legacy, including operating Walt Disney’s Carolwood Barn in Los Angeles’ Griffith Park.
