Registration is now open for this year’s Brick Dash 5K, the run/walk race on Saturday, April 14 at Legoland Florida Resort.
This race, held in collaboration with Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing, will benefit Merlin’s Magic Wand, the global children’s charity of Legoland’s parent company Merlin Entertainments Group.
Merlin’s Magic Wand is a worldwide charity that helps disabled, disadvantaged and seriously ill children and their families enjoy a magical day at over 120 Merlin Entertainments attractions around the world. For those who are unable to visit a Merlin attraction, the charity creates Merlin’s Magic Spaces in local community facilities that serve children’s needs.
The event starts at 7 a.m. with a 5K race that will send participants throughout Legoland Florida Resort, as well as the Cypress Gardens area, which will be followed by the half-mile “fun run” for kids at 8 a.m.
Lego characters like Wyldstyle, Kai, Emmet, Nya, Benny and Master Wu will be there to cheer on walkers and runners alike during both races.
Online registration is $35 per person with an additional processing fee for all 5K participants as well as “virtual” runners. For the “fun run,” registration is limited to kids ages 3-12, and is $25 per person online with an additional processing fee. There is also a special family registration option via mail for $99, and includes registration for two adults for the 5K, along with “fun run” registration for two children.
To register online, or to obtain the family registration form, check out the website here. A map for the race course will soon be available as well.
All participants in the 5K and virtual runners will receive a Brick Dash shirt, a gift bag of sponsor materials, and a special Lego brick medal designed by Legoland Master Model Builders. Participants in the “fun run” will also receive a Brick Dash shirt, a gift bag and a collectible Lego brick commemorating the event.
Shirts are guaranteed only for those who register by March 30. Winners in each division of the race will receive a one-of-a-kind Lego trophy.
Fans of the Brick Dash can now vote for the final medal design online at Legoland Florida’s official Facebook page: facebook.com/LEGOLANDFlorida.
