Lionsgate Entertainment World to host grand opening July 31
Lionsgate Entertainment World, Asia’s first movie-themed theme park located in Hengquin, Zhuhai, is set to officially open its doors on July 31.
Spanning 22,000 square meters (about 236,800 square feet) of indoor space on multiple floors, Lionsgate Entertainment World highlights six global film franchises and Chinese box office hits – The Hunger Games franchise, The Twilight Saga, The Divergent Series, “Now You See Me,” “Gods of Egypt,” and “Escape Plan.” For theme park fans in the U.S., the layout of this new park is similar to the now-defunct DisneyQuest at Walt Disney World Resort.
“From escaping the Capitol, to braving the mental and physical challenges of Dauntless, to taking on a newborn vampire army with Jacob and the Wolf Pack, we can’t wait for fans to step into the worlds of their favorite films to create their own authentic adventures,” said Jenefer Brown, Lionsgate’s senior vice president of Global Live and Location Based Entertainment.
Guests will get to experience many exciting attractions based on blockbuster film franchises, including:
- The Twilight Saga – Midnight Ride, a multiplayer, interactive, hyper-reality VR (virtual reality) motorbike simulator experience, where guests will interact with each other as they race alongside Jacob and the Wolf Pack on an adventure through the woods.
- Gods of Egypt – Battle for Eternity, an indoor VR roller coaster where guests travel through ancient Egypt and fly over the pyramids.
- The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Flight Rebel Escape, a multiple motion-based 3D cabin simulator experience where guests will take flight alongside the rebellion as they attempt to escape the Capitol.
In addition to the high-tech attractions and rides, Lionsgate Entertainment World has other movie-themed experiences, including dining locations like the Hunger Games-inspired Capitol Club; Peeta’s Bakery; and the modern Lionsgate Cafe.
The park will also offer shopping experiences, including Capitol Couture, a one-stop shop for fabulous garb; Dauntless Ink, the home of edgy tattoo designs; and Iong’s Magic Shop, where families can find souvenirs that will enchant and mystify.
Guests can look forward to over 25 attractions with the opening of Lionsgate Entertainment World. To learn more, or to plan your visit, click here.
