A look at runDisney’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend 2013

This past weekend runDisney held their annual Wine and Dine Half Marathon and Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K. We have a photo and video report from the events for you right here.

This is actor Sean Astin’s running club, run3rd. Astin runs as many Disney races as he can, but one of the group members said he couldn’t fit Wine and Dine into his schedule.

Runners waiting until around 9 p.m., when the corrals opened. This is a very common scene with large city races, like Boston and New York marathons where you’re bused to a field and you camp out for awhile.

The first of 12 corrals, Corral A, has experienced and fast runners. This was taken about 40 minutes prior to the start. There’s no sense in wasting energy, chomping at the bit, we all know who’s fastest and should be at the very front. Each corral had its own start. The first corrals were two minutes apart and later corrals were separated longer. The last start was at 10:40 p.m. I heard it go off when I exited Animal Kingdom at about the sixth mile.
