Mall of America and American Monsters team up for new haunted event
Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. has partnered with Working with American Monsters for an all-new immersive haunted attraction this Halloween season.
The indoor event will feature dozens of scare actors, monstrous creatures, an original soundtrack, and evocative haunted houses and sets for a “never-before-experienced realm of horror.”
“We are thrilled to partner with the leaders in the haunt-themed entertainment industry to open a first-of-its-kind Halloween attraction,” said Mall of America’s Vice President of Experiential Chris Grap. “American Monsters will bring to life their creative and terrifying concepts, turning nightmares into reality. Opening an elevated haunt experience in addition to our exceptional seasonal festivities will make Mall of America the perfect destination for Halloween enthusiasts.”
Onionhead’s Revenge
Titled “Onionhead’s Revenge,” the event tells the “local legend” about a young Louisiana man who was brutally murdered after being wrongly accused of killing a woman. The story says his remains were scattered around a local cemetery, and the man’s mother cursed the townspeople who killed her son. Now the man, cruelly nicknamed “Onionhead,” is back for revenge — this time as a stitched-together monstrosity.
“More than a great haunt, this is truly an exciting night out. After a shot of Liquid Courage, guests will step inside a world of creepy Louisiana bayous and graveyards, to come face-to-face with supernatural terror and a creature out for revenge,” said Charlotte Huggins, CEO of American Monsters. “We are excited to bring our chilling story to guests at Mall of America, the Midwest epicenter of entertainment.”
Beyond haunted experiences, visitors can also expect Halloween-themed bars serving specialty food and drinks. More details about the event are expected soon, with pre-sale tickets available starting on Aug. 1, 2023.
