The Halloween season is just around the corner, and Marvel Comics will celebrate with a special giant-sized issue of scary stories featuring beloved characters.
“Crypt of Shadows #1” is a one-shot comic that pays homage to the original “Crypt of Shadows” series from the 1970s. The new “Crypt of Shadows” will be a collection of tales showcasing the creepier side of the Marvel Universe.
Stories in the issue include ones with Moon Knight, Wolverine, Elsa Bloodstone, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night, and Blade’s daughter, Bloodline.
“The heroes of the Marvel Universe spend most of their time in the bright sun, flying high above it all, but every once in a while they venture into the darkness that lurks in the hidden corners of the world—there lurk the creatures, the monsters, the vampires… the ones who prey on innocence and goodness…” Marvel said in a release.
Creators contributing to “Crypt of Shadows” include former editor Chris Cooper (“Darkhold”), Al Ewing (original “Crypt of Shadows”), Danny Lore (“Black Panther”), Rebecca Roanhorse (“Phoenix Song: Echo”), Adam Warren (“Venom: The End”), Chris Condon (Marvel and Image Comics), Karen S. Darboe (Free Comic Book Day: “Avengers/X-Men”), Geoff Shaw (“Wolverine: Patch”), Ibrahim Moustafa (“Black Panther”), and more.
The cover of “Crypt of Shadows #1” is designed by Leinil Francis Yu. The issue comes out on Oct. 19, 2022.
More details about the upcoming “Crypt of Shadows #1” are expected in the coming weeks.
Last month, Marvel Comics announced that “Planet of the Apes” stories will soon grace the colorful pages of its comics. The franchise is expected to return to Marvel in 2023.
