The Disney crossover variant covers will be similar to covers released last year to celebrate Disney100, with Mickey and Friends recreating iconic X-Men and the Avengers covers, each donning the phrase at the bottom: “What If…” It’s the perfect way for Disney to pay tribute to these superheroes that have now become household names.

The variant covers will be on select Amazing Spider-Man Comics

On July 10, 2024, the first newly announced variant cover will drop for Amazing Spider-Man #53. This cover will be done by Nico Picone, and will feature Goofy Thor, Mickey Cap, Minnie Ironman, and more. They will be honoring the cover of Avengers #151.

Then on Aug. 14, 2024, Amazing Spider-Man #55 will feature a Disney crossover variant cover by Donald Soffritti. This What If… cover will pay tribute to Uncanny X-Men #137 with Donald and Daisy as Cyclops and Jean Grey during the climax of the very popular Dark Phoenix Saga (pictured above).

Sept. 11, 2024, will see the variant cover for Amazing Spider-Man #57, featuring an Avengers cover so popular it was recreated on the big screen in Captain America: Civil War. The cover will honor the cover of Avengers #223, where Ant-Man can be seen on the tip of Hawkeye’s arrow. However, Hawkeye will be played by Mickey while Donald is dressed as Ant-Man. This variant cover will be by Claudio Sciarrone.
