MegaCon Orlando adds Gina Carano, Brendan Fraser, ‘Encanto’s’ Jessica Darrow and more to 2022 lineup
This year’s MegaCon Orlando is gearing up to be one of the geek convention’s most star-studded affairs. The event runs May 19-22,m 2022 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
MegaCon has been steadily revealing more and more celebrity guests tentatively set to attend and meet fans at this year’s convention. Over the last couple of weeks, the Con added Gina Carano (“The Mandalorian”), Brendan Fraser (“The Mummy,” “Doom Patrol”), Nathan Fillion (“Firefly,” “Castle”), Jessica Darrow (Luisa Madrigal in “Encanto”) and several voice actors from video games and animated franchises.
Carano, Fillion, and Darrow are all appearing Saturday and Sunday of the convention, and Fraser will attend Saturday. As with any comic convention, celebrity appearances are not always guaranteed, as many have to cancel travel due to scheduling, filming, and other reasons. Fraser was one of the guests who couldn’t make it to the 2021 MegaCon, so fans are likely hoping he’ll make it down to Florida this year.
As for voice actors, MegaCon announced this week that Troy Baker and Steve Downes are coming to meet fans and sign autographs. Baker is best known for his voice roles in many game franchises, including voicing Joel Miller in “The Last of Us.” Downes is best known as the iconic voice behind Master Chief in the “Halo” franchise.
There are plenty more guests and artists already announced for the biggest fan convention in the Southeast. And there are likely more announcements coming right up until the opening day.
Also from “The Mandalorian” are Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) and Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze). Disney fans will also get to see Paige O’Hara, who voiced Belle in “Beauty and the Beast,” and Chris Sarandon, who voiced Jack Skellington in “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
And don’t forget about the long-awaited “The Lord of the Rings” Hobbit reunion with Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan.
