Merlin Entertainments and The Lego Group will open a next generation Lego Discovery Centre in Brussels by summer of 2022.
Belgium’s families will be the first, worldwide, to get a look at the design of Brussels’ new Lego Discovery Centre interactive indoor play place. Previous destinations were called Legoland Discovery Centers.
“We are delighted that our partnership with the Lego Group continues to deliver such fantastic opportunities for our guests,” said Justin Platt, chief strategy officer, Merlin Entertainments.
“By working together to design and build this next generation of the Lego Discovery Centres, we can cater for even more families looking for the ultimate Lego morning or afternoon of indoor activity, which the whole family can enjoy together,” he added.
The state-of-the-art playground will feature four major attractions:
Lego Space digital creator allows kids and their grown-ups to digitally build a space rocket out of Lego, scan their build, launch it, and then fly it into outer space, where they can dodge aliens and land on planets within the Lego Space solar system.
Imagination Express train ride lets participants use magical devices (and score points!) while embarking on an interactive adventure. The ride passes through a larger-than-life Lego world. Start in a bubble bath, dive down the plug hole, and plunge into a Lego-style ocean before launching into space.
Preschoolers have their own play area, designed especially for ages five and under. The playscape includes little ones’ favorite back-in-time reptiles, through a dinosaur-themed carousel and slides.
A team of Playmakers and Master Builders will be on hand, helping families “learn through play.” Interactive Lego Creative Workshops inspire guests to have fun while learning, through Lego-based activities.
“We are excited to partner with Merlin Entertainments on the development of the new Lego Discovery Centre in Brussels, which will immerse the whole family in the world of Lego play,” said Julia Goldin, chief product and marketing officer, The Lego Group.
“By creating this highly interactive indoor Lego experience,” she continued, “we will give families a place to play, explore, create, and have fun together. Working closely with Merlin Entertainments and their expertise in the location-based entertainment sector, we hope to spark curiosity, creativity, and imagination for the builders of tomorrow.”
