AdventHealth – the official health care provider at Walt Disney World Resort – broke ground yesterday on its new ER at Flamingo Crossings Town Center to provide emergency care for Disney World guests, cast members, and the local community.
To celebrate this milestone in the renewed alliance between AdventHealth and Walt Disney World Resort, Mickey Mouse was on hand to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony, which included a time capsule containing items that tell the history of the alliance and mementos from The World’s Most Magical Celebration commemorating the resort’s 50th anniversary.
“We are pleased to break ground on this unique and innovative facility, which will provide convenient, whole-person care for Central Floridians and visitors alike,” said Doug Harcombe, CEO of AdventHealth Celebration and the Osceola market. “We’re combining what AdventHealth and Disney each do best: providing exceptional clinical care and designing an experience that delivers a calming environment with touches of Disney’s storytelling.”
The approximately 19,000-square AdventHealth ER at Flamingo Crossings Town Center is expected to open in 2023 at the western gateway to Walt Disney World Resort, offering a unique design and patient experience in the AdventHealth network through Key West-influenced architecture and Disney-inspired touches that will enhance the patient experience.
The comprehensive clinical team will include board-certified emergency physicians and emergency nurses. In addition, the facility will have 24 private patient rooms (some pediatric-friendly), respiratory therapy, a full-service laboratory, and diagnostic imaging, including CT scans, x-ray, and ultrasound.
AdventHealth will also provide health care services and vacation planning tools to Walt Disney World Resort guests before and during their trips through the AdventHealth World of Wellness.
