Minecraft World: First-ever Minecraft theme park land coming in 2027
The best-selling video game of all time is getting its own theme park land. Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios will open Minecraft World at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London in 2027, marking the first time “Minecraft” has been brought to life at a major theme park.

The £50 million project (about $70 million) will include a world-first Minecraft roller coaster, interactive adventures, block-built playscapes, and themed retail and dining. The land draws inspiration from the game’s iconic biomes, mobs, and items.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing Minecraft’s creativity, bold adventures, and ridiculous fun to life at a theme park for the first time at Chessington World of Adventures,” said Angela Jobson, SVP of global brand at Merlin Entertainments.
“Minecraft World will allow friends and families to play, explore and craft together on a truly epic scale. Working closely together with Mojang Studios we are meticulously creating an authentic world that the global community of Minecraft fans will want to immerse themselves in and experience the game in a whole new way.”
Minecraft World has been a long time coming

Merlin Entertainments first announced a $110 million investment in “Minecraft”-themed attractions across the U.S. and U.K. in November 2024, without revealing specific locations. The Chessington project accounts for £50 million of that total investment. Merlin has not yet announced where the U.S. “Minecraft” attraction will be located.
Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios announced the project during Minecraft Live on March 21, 2026. The two companies have partnered with a selection of well-known Minecraft creators to help design the land and ensure it feels authentic to the game’s global community.
Notably, Minecraft World is inspired by the game itself — not by “A Minecraft Movie,” which earned over $961 million at the global box office in 2025. A sequel to the film is scheduled for release in July 2027, the same year the land opens.

“Minecraft World represents a meaningful milestone in our ongoing journey to expand the Minecraft universe,” said Torfi Frans Ólafsson, senior creative director of entertainment at Minecraft. “We’re thrilled to have partnered with Merlin Entertainments to realise a place where you can literally be in the Minecraft Overworld and have an adventure of your own with your family and friends.”
Chessington World of Adventures is located about 35 minutes by train from London Waterloo. The park is operated by Merlin Entertainments, which also runs the Legoland resorts, Alton Towers, and Thorpe Park across the UK.
