Minions flash mob coming to Universal Studios Singapore

Picture it: You’re enjoying your day at Universal Studios Singapore. You’ve already experienced some of the park’s main attractions, like Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure and Shrek 4-D Adventure. Next, you wander into the park’s New York Street area. You’re observing the NYC-inspired architecture when all of a sudden, with no warning, music blasts through the air as the street becomes filled with … Minions? Welcome to “Minionvasion,” a Minions flash mob.

A Mega Despicable Summer

Universal Studios Singapore will host A Mega Despicable Summer from July 1 – Aug. 11, 2024. During this time, the park — located at Resorts World Sentosa — will commemorate the release of “Despicable Me 4” with an array of limited-time experiences.

A Mega Despicable Summer will set up home base in the park’s New York Street area. There, guests can pose for photos with giant inflatables of the new Mega Minions from “Despicable Me 4”: Mega Mel, Mega Dave, Mega Gus, and Mega Jerry. In “Mission: Mega,” a new show, guests can volunteer to be transformed into Mega humans. During the aforementioned “Minionvasion” flash mob performance, Anti-Villain League Minions will descend upon New York Street.

Character greetings during A Mega Despicable Summer will include:

• Anti-Villain League Minions at the New York Public Library following performances of “Minionvasion”
• Kevin and Stuart at the New York Public Library following performances of “Mission: Mega”
• Gru, Lucy, Margo, Edith, and Agnes at the Lagoon Stage

Specially themed food for A Mega Despicable Summer will be available at Pops! Popcorn Delights, Mel’s Drive-In, Star Snacks, KT’s Grill, and Loui’s Pizza. Exclusive merchandise featuring “baby pit crew” Minions will be available at Universal Studios Store and Minion Mart.

“Despicable Me 4” — produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures — hits theaters July 4, 2024 in Singapore. For our U.S. readers, the film will release July 3, 2024 domestically.

Minion Land Coming Soon

During its limited-time run, A Mega Despicable Summer will be Universal Studios Singapore’s largest representation of the “Despicable Me” franchise, as the park currently lacks a permanent attraction based on the films.

That will all change soon, though, as Minion Land is currently under construction and slated to open sometime this year. The area will feature the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem simulator attraction (which already exists in various Universal parks worldwide), plus a yet-to-be-announced attraction that Universal has described as “a world’s first original ride exclusive to Universal Studios Singapore.”
