D23′s Disney Fanniversary Celebration events have proven extremely popular with every one of the six-city stops completely sold-out. In order to ensure that even more D23 Members get to experience all the fun, additional tour cities have been added.
This September the Fanniversary Celebration will visit Seattle and Philadelphia. The tour will continue in October with stops in Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth. Exact dates, locales and ticketing information will be announced shortly.
Each event will be hosted by a Disney archivist and D23 team member and will feature behind-the-scenes stories surrounding classic Disney movies (like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Newsies and Aladdin), characters and favorite Disney Parks attractions. Never before seen film footage, concept art, photography and interviews with Disney Legends will be a part of the events in each city.
Watch Oswald the Lucky Rabbit struggle to ride a rascally camel in Harem Scarem:
D23 embarked on a painstaking process to place the sketches of this 85-year-old cartoon in order and create a basic animating effect. The sketches and rough animation debuted at the D23 Fanniversary Celebration in Los Angeles on April 27. D23 and the Walt Disney Archives have taken Harem Scarem and more rarely seen Disney Archives footage on the road and across the country with this D23 Member event.
The new cities in the Fanniversary tour are:
Philadelphia – Sept. 14, 7 p.m., Penn Museum, Rainey Auditorium
Seattle – Sept. 16, 7 p.m., Seattle Public Library, Microsoft Auditorium
Atlanta – Oct. 6, 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., High Museum of Art
Dallas– Oct. 7, 7 p.m., Dallas Museum of Art, Horchow Auditorium
Tickets are $18 for members of D23 and will be available exclusively to members beginning 1 p.m. EST Wednesday, Aug. 15, at D23’s website – Disney.com/D23. Remaining tickets will be available to the general public for $25 beginning 1 p.m. EST Thursday, Aug. 23.
