Atlanta, Ga. — Several attractions at Six Flags Over Georgia were reportedly closed Saturday, Oct. 17, as the park continued operating amid an investigation into the fatal accident on the Goliath roller coaster earlier this week.

Update, Oct. 18: Two visitors responding to Attractions Magazine’s coverage reported riding Twisted Cyclone and Blue Hawk at Six Flags Over Georgia on Saturday, Oct. 17. One visitor said they rode Twisted Cyclone twice and Blue Hawk once, while another also reported riding both attractions.
Their accounts indicate the rides were operating at least part of Saturday, despite earlier reports of closures. The reasons for the reported interruptions remain unconfirmed.
Why is it reported that additional rides closed at Six Flags Over Georgia?
The reasons for the additional reported closures have not been confirmed. Social media speculation has focused on whether some attractions are undergoing additional safety inspections or awaiting updated maintenance documentation.
One unverified report specifically alleged that Twisted Cyclone is awaiting updated operating procedures from its manufacturer, Rocky Mountain Construction, related to modifications to the ride’s restraints. However, neither Six Flags Over Georgia nor Georgia regulators have publicly confirmed that explanation.
Attractions Magazine has contacted Six Flags Over Georgia for clarification. There is currently no verified evidence that the additional reported closures were caused by the Goliath accident.
Other roller coasters closed following Goliath fatality
The reported closures at Six Flags Over Georgia come as amusement parks across North America have temporarily shut down other roller coasters following the Oct. 12 fatality.
Six Flags confirmed precautionary closures of nine roller coasters at six other parks, including Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure, Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America and Fury 325 at Carowinds. Most were manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, the company that built Goliath.
SeaWorld Orlando also temporarily closed Mako, while La Ronde in Montreal closed its Goliath coaster for a safety review. Hersheypark’s Candymonium, another Bolliger & Mabillard coaster, reopened Friday, Oct. 16, following a precautionary closure.
Editor’s note: This article documents visitor-reported ride closures and operating interruptions on Oct. 16 and 17, 2026. Additional eyewitness accounts confirm that some attractions reported closed were operating later Saturday. Attractions Magazine continues seeking clarification from Six Flags Over Georgia regarding the reported interruptions.
