Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant — integral to the history of Knott’s Berry Farm — will celebrate its 90th anniversary this summer.
90 Years of Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner
June 13, 2024 will mark exactly nine decades since Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner first opened in Buena Park, Calif. The thriving business ultimately led to the accompanying theme park we know today as Knott’s Berry Farm.
Knott’s will roll out anniversary events in the coming months, the park announced this week. On the official anniversary date, the Office of Senator Janet Nguyen will award Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner with a Resolution of Recognition. Also that day, Knott’s will launch a 90th anniversary merchandise collection for the restaurant.
On July 6, 2024, Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner will celebrate National Fried Chicken Day with special menu items, photo-ops, and discounts. Throwback drinks from the restaurant’s history will follow in August, as will a tea party celebration in November.

The story of Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant begins in the 1920s when Walter and Cordelia Knott began farming their acres of leased land in the farm community of Buena Park. To make ends meet, Cordelia began serving hot biscuits and homemade preserves to customers of the family’s roadside produce stand. Word spread, and by 1934 it became necessary for Cordelia to expand her menu to include her now famous country-fried chicken.

Snoopy Coaster Opening Soon
Elsewhere in Knott’s Berry Farm this summer, the park will debut its Camp Snoopy overhaul, complete with the new Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Twister Coaster. Knott’s has not announced a specific opening date.
