“Aladdin on Broadway Concert Celebration – Live at Epcot”

Each year, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts spotlights the Disney on Broadway Concert Series, bringing live performances by Broadway stars to Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla. Last winter during the 2024 festival, Disney filmed one of those concerts to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the “Aladdin” Broadway musical.

Posted earlier this week on the Disney on Broadway YouTube channel, “Aladdin on Broadway Concert Celebration – Live at Epcot” is 27 minutes of music and history.

The special features songs from “Aladdin” performed by:

  • Bradley Gibson, Simba in “The Lion King” and the titular character in “Hercules”
  • Mandy Gonzales, Princess Amneris in “Aida”
  • Shoba Narayan, Princess Jasmine in “Aladdin”
  • Michael James Scott, Genie in “Aladdin”

Between songs, the vocalists share behind-the-scenes tidbits from the creation of “Aladdin,” as does composer Alan Menken via video.

The concert’s program of songs includes:

  • “Arabian Nights”
  • “One Jump Ahead”
  • “These Palace Walls”
  • “Proud of Your Boy”
  • “Prince Ali”
  • “A Whole New World”
  • “Friend Like Me”

The special follows a trend of Disney uploading medium-length programming to YouTube. In recent weeks, the company launched “We Call It Imagineering” and “How Happy Happens,” two separate YouTube series about Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney cast members, respectively.

Memorial Day Weekend, Disney will film a “Lion King” concert with members of the film’s original voice cast at the Hollywood Bowl. The concert will stream on Disney+ later this year, similar to the “Encanto” Hollywood Bowl concert in 2022.

30 Years of Disney on Broadway

On top of the 10th anniversary of “Aladdin,” Disney on Broadway as a whole is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary. Its first production, “Beauty and the Beast,” debuted in 1994.

To mark the birthday, Disney performers from around the world joined together for a simulcast medley on “Good Morning America” last week:

The latest Disney film to make the leap from screen to stage is “Hercules,” which debuted earlier this year in Germany. Take a look at the new show:
