My Disney Experience app problems, guests miss virtual queue spots

I woke up today at 6:45 a.m., ready to grab my 7:00 a.m. Tron virtual queue spot like Disney asks of their guests. To my surprise, my virtual queue wasn’t working. Neither was my park pass reservation. I go to check, neither was the My Disney Experience website on a computer. It appears Walt Disney World’s website is down!

UPDATE – 04/25/23, 1:14 p.m. EST: Walt Disney World was able to get their Park Pass Reservations and Virtual Queue system working again after about an hour and a half of technical issues. More info was added to the end of this article with updated data from ThrillData.

It is 7:21 a.m. at the time of writing and the virtual queue system is still down. Being a passholder myself, if I miss today’s queue I will be upset but not mortified. For that family “from Denver” as past CEO Bob Chapek would put it, this is probably a chaotic morning.

Disney has not yet released a statement about an expected time the application will be fixed. We can only assume you must keep refreshing to try to be the first group in.

After a few minutes of fighting the My Disney Experience app, I went to Thrill Data on Twitter. Their consistent tracking of theme parks rides, downtimes, and the virtual queue system would give me the answer of, “is it my app’s problem, or Disney altogether.”

I quickly saw that yes, the My Disney Experience app was having problems and the virtual queue was down.

Disney is having a technical issues, yes. But Disney is also known for their customer service. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, due know that the Front Desk Cast Members cannot fix the issue. They also probably don’t yet know a fix time either. But, take a screenshot of your virtual queue issues, go grab that email confirming you had a park pass reservation to your respective park today.

Later on, when Disney fixes this issue, you may be able to go to Guest Relations (please be extra kind to them today) in the park to get a virtual queue time. Take those screenshots as your proof that you tried. Disney may end up giving out very few virtual queue slots today, and give a majority of them at the 1 p.m. afternoon slot instead.

According to the continual checking by ThrillData.com, the first set of boarding groups for most guests were opened up at 8:18 a.m. I kept checking but was never able to grab a boarding group time and missed the delayed morning window.
