New Care Bears ride in development

Sally Dark Rides and Cloudco Entertainment have agreed to bring a Care Bears family ride to the attractions marketplace, meaning the adorable bears may find their way to a theme park near you.

Care Bears ride

Introduced in 1982, the “lovable, huggable bears from Care-A-Lot who inspire all to have fun, share, and care” are the stars of one of the world’s most popular kid’s properties. On the family-friendly attraction, moving “Cloud Cars” will immerse riders in a colorful environment enhanced by sounds, scents, themed lighting, hand-crafted set pieces, and, of course, cuddly Care Bears animatronic characters.

“Sally Dark Rides’ expertise in creating immersive experiences is the perfect canvas to bring the colorful world of Care-A-Lot to life,” said Cloudco Entertainment Head of Global Licensing Robert Prinzo. “We’re excited to see the Care Bears’ message of sharing and caring expand into a dynamic attraction where families can engage with the Care Bears in a whole new way.”

Although the Care Bears ride is in development, Sally Dark Rides will need to find a buyer to put it in their theme park or attraction. Several years ago, Sally developed a Five Nights at Freddy’s ride, which is still waiting to make it into a park; their SpongeBob dark ride, however, is opening March 1, 2024, at Circus Circus in Las Vegas.

In 2019, a brand-new look for the Care Bears was introduced in “Care Bears: Unlock the Magic,” a 48-episode, 2D animated series currently airing in the U.S. on Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and HBO Max via its Cartoonito preschool block. In 2022, the Care Bears celebrated 40 years with the launch of new consumer products and toys.

“With storylines centered around caring, sharing, and treating others with respect – Care Bears is just one of those brands you want to wrap your arms around and hug,” said Sally Dark Rides VP of Business Development and Marketing Lauren Weaver. “We see incredible potential with this nostalgic, huggable, colorful, and inclusive brand [and] whole-heartedly believe this family dark ride would be successful in any theme park or entertainment center around the world.”
