New ‘Elf on the Shelf’ holiday drive-thru journey debuts in California
This holiday season, a brand-new Elf on the Shelf themed drive-thru experience is debuting at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif. The Elf on the Shelf’s Magical Holiday Journey will combine lights, audio and Christmas theming for guests of all ages.
Guests will travel through a Gingerbread Village, a Toy Repair Workshop, Santa’s Magical Grotto, an Arctic Winter Wonderful and more. The detailed sets are designed by David Korins, award-winning creative director and set designer behind Broadway originals like “Hamilton,” “Beetlejuice” and “Dear Evan Hansen.” Narration throughout the journey will be offered in both English and Spanish.
The Lumistella Company partnered with Constellation Immersive, an affiliate of Creative Artists Agency, to create this hour-long event.
“Bringing an experience that expands on the beloved stories, characters and themes of The Elf on the Shelf to life, particularly in a year when we are all in need of extra cheer, means the world to us,” Christa Pitts and Chanda Bell, founders and co-CEOs of The Lumistella Company, the company behind The Elf on the Shelf, said in a joint statement. “The profound magic of the holidays and the way it enlightens and excites both children and adults are why we first wanted to share The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition with the world.”
“We’re proud to partner with this beloved holiday brand and to collaborate with David Korins and the rest of the creative team to offer a new story of adventure to this magical creative universe,” said Marty LaSalle, co-head of Constellation Immersive. “It’s an honor to bring this enchanting holiday drive-thru destination to Los Angeles County and we hope to expand it to additional cities across the country next year.”
The Elf on the Shelf’s Magical Holiday Journey runs Nov. 12, 2020 – Jan. 3, 2021, with early previews beginning on Nov. 6. To celebrate the season of giving, the event will feature a toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots and Children’s Hospital LA. Guests can either bring an unwrapped toy, or donate directly to the cause while purchasing their tickets.
Admission starts at $19.95 for children and $24.95 for adults. Tickets are available for purchase now at ElfOnTheShelfJourney.com. For more information, follow @MagicalElfJourney.
It’s only $30 PER person if you go Mon-Thu. Otherwise it’s $50 PER person on the weekends I checked. Talk about poor optics during a recession. A more reasonable price would be $20-25/car since 1 person or 8 people in a vehicle take up the same space. Everyone I mentioned it to were flabbergasted at the prices.
