HalloWeekends are in full swing at Cedar Point, and Ohio’s premier Halloween event also includes the chance to interact with the park’s menacing monsters, known as Screamsters, during the Night of the Living Fed dinner experience.

Enter an expansive room cloaked in darkness, where coffins, skeletons, bouquets of dead flowers, and extravagant graveyard settings combine with 10 themed food stations surrounded by spooky surprises. Guests dine amid scenic and special effects, where creepy characters and creatures of the deep mingle among ancient relics, dusty books, and busts of the unknown.

That’s the setting for the Night of the Living Fed buffet, an immersive experience that highlights the culinary side of Cedar Point.

Chris Near, vice president of food and beverage at Cedar Point, spoke about the park’s goals, saying, “On the food and beverage team, our mission is to provide the best dining experience in the world. We continue to transform our dining programs to deliver a different kind of memory for our guests. We’re known for roller coasters and thrills, but we want our guests to also consider us as a destination for food.”

The food offerings are as lavish as the atmosphere is otherworldly. Choose from 20 appetizers, entrees, and desserts, including sumptuous bucatini pasta in a black peppercorn cream sauce, luscious Korean-style country ribs, crisp apple harvest salad with vanilla bean vinaigrette, and impressive whole salmon sides glazed in ginger, honey, and brown sugar.

“This isn’t’ a plain, ordinary laundry list of buffet items,” said RJ Sinwald, executive chef at Cedar Point. “Utilizing our innovative festivals and celebrations like HalloWeekends, we present our guests unique and incredibly delicious food selections that cannot be found anywhere else. Our team of chefs is constantly trying to push the culinary boundaries of what can be offered. Where else can you enjoy herb-crusting standing rib roast alongside an undead Screamster?”

Those who are adventurous enough to enter the dining area but not as adventurous in their culinary tastes are catered for, too.

“Knowing that everyone in the family is going to have individual preferences, we’ve included familiar items like broccoli & cheddar and minestrone soups, classic Caesar salad, garlic parmesan potatoes, honey-glazed chicken drumettes, and even chicken tenders,” Sinwald added. “For dessert, guests can select from traditional favorites like pumpkin and pecan pies, assorted cookies, and a variety of baked treats.”

Cedar Point’s dining outlets have expanded, too, as Chris Near explains: “When it comes to dining at Cedar Point, we’ve achieved many of our goals over the past few years, including the introduction of new food venues like French Quarter Confections, a reinvented Corral, The Wild Turnip for vegan and vegetarian options, and the BackBeatQue barbeque location, with its special outdoor entertainment patio. We continue to raise our own expectations, which means this isn’t where the innovation ends. We’re just getting started.”
