As the exclusive automotive partner of Marvel Studios’ “Eternals,” Lexus collaborated with Marvel to design ten concept “Eternals” Lexus vehicles custom-themed to the super heroes from the highly anticipated film opening Nov. 5, 2021.
Directed by Academy Award-winner Chloé Zhao (“Nomadland”), Marvel Studios’ “Eternals” follows a group of heroes from beyond the stars who have protected Earth since the dawn of man, but when Deviants (creatures thought to be gone) mysteriously return, the Eternals must reunite to defend humanity once again.
The ensemble cast includes Gemma Chan (“Crazy Rich Asians”), Richard Madden (“Game of Thrones”), Kumail Nanjiani (“Men In Black: International”), Lia McHugh (“Into the Dark”), Brian Tyree Henry (“Godzilla vs. Kong”), Lauren Ridloff (“The Walking Dead”), Barry Keoghan (‘Dunkirk”), and Don Lee (“Train to Busan”), with Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”), Salma Hayek (“Frida”), and Angelina Jolie (“Maleficent”).
The custom-wrapped “Eternals” vehicles will be featured in various events and media extensions – including the red carpet premiere – and each one is inspired by the unique individual armor design, iconography, and superpower of an Eternal. In addition, a golden glow that radiates from the grilles and underbodies reflects the characters’ shared energy signature as seen in the film.
“We’re excited to bring the ‘Eternals’ partnership to life through these custom-wrapped Lexus vehicles,” said Vinay Shahani, Lexus vice president of marketing. “Just as each character has a distinct style and set of capabilities, so does each character-themed Lexus.”
Earlier this month, Lexus and Marvel Studios debuted a long-form video called “Parking Spot,” starring Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo directed by the Russo brothers, who helmed four Marvel Studios’ films, including “Avengers: Endgame,” one of the highest-grossing films of all time. In the two-minute video, Kingo has to solve a very human problem before he can join the epic battle happening downtown: finding a safe parking spot for his new Lexus.
“After so successfully telling a co-branded story on the original Black Panther film, we’re thrilled to be teaming up with Lexus once again,” said Marvel Studios SVP, Global Partnership Marketing Mindy Hamilton. “Combined with our custom spot directed by the Russo Brothers and starring Kumail Nanjiani in-character as Kingo, these ‘Eternals-‘inspired vehicles show that exciting collaborative storytelling can extend even beyond traditional media.”
