Nintendo Museum will open Oct. 2, 2024 in Kyoto, Japan. The exhibitions within will celebrate the company’s legacy with historical displays, interactive exhibits, and more.

Shigeru Miyamoto, representative director at Nintendo, hosted a tour of the museum during a Nintendo Direct livestream in August 2024.

Interactive exhibits

Nintendo is all about play, so naturally visiting a Nintendo Museum won’t merely be a passive experience. Guests will get to play recreated duplicates of products no longer manufactured (like Ultra Machine DX) as well as giant versions of games from Nintendo and beyond the company alike (such as Hyakunin Isshu, a traditional Japanese card game).

The museum will also have a café.

History of Nintendo

The second floor of Nintendo Museum will be devoted to displays showing off the company’s history: the Copilas system, vintage games like the original Donkey Kong, and giant versions of classic controllers.

One section will display the history of interactive games, even prior to video games.

How to visit Nintendo Museum

Following its opening on Oct. 2, 2024, Nintendo Museum will operate Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The museum will be closed on Tuesdays (except for when Tuesday is a holiday, in which case the museum will be open on the Tuesday holiday and closed the next day, that Wednesday).
