Photo Update: Another day in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Universal was allowing regular park guests into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a few hours again this morning. In fact, even though Islands of Adventure was supposed to open at 9 a.m. this morning, they started letting guests in at 8:45 a.m. Despite the fact that it’s the weekend, it didn’t seem overly crowded.

The above photo was taken from the top of the lift hill on Flight of the Hippogriff. It offers a great view of the Wizarding World and how it fits in with the rest of Universal Orlando.

Everything is so detailed, it’s hard to find something that doesn’t look like it fits. Here’s a funny sign near the outdoor tables behind the Three Broomsticks restaurant.

I missed this on my previous two visits. The ATM is themed as Gringotts Bank.

Here’s some of what’s on tap in the Three Broomsticks. No soda is for sale anywhere in the Wizarding World. Butterbeer is also on tap. Only non-alcoholic butterbeer is available, although the Hog’s Head Pub is a full bar. I like the frozen butterbeer better, but some like the regular variety. I may have to change my mind, as I just realized frozen butterbeer is more expensive.

I’m not sure why this mandrake isn’t screaming in this store window. You can also see a more buried mandrake in the greenhouse portion of Hogwarts Castle.

I also just realized what this fountain is for – washing out your butterbeer mug.

A look at Buckbeak bowing to guests passing by on the Flight of the Hippogriff ride.

Here’s another thing I didn’t see on my previous visits. The egg above the Dragon Challenge entrance.

I stopped in Honeydukes on my way out and bought some of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans. In addition to the regular jelly bean flavors you’d expect, there’s pizza, cheese, ketchup, pepper, onion, sausage, fish, mashed potatoes and gravy. Yuck!

We stopped to look through the Wizarding World merchandise once more in the main Universal store in front of the park. The Universal Studios store in CityWalk will also be carrying Wizarding World merchandise soon. And if they didn’t get you yet, the Universal store at the airport also sells wands, shirts, plush toys and more.

  1. Did they keep the elaborate queue area of Dueling Dragons for the Dragon Challenge? Did they make changes for the new storyline?

  2. The queue has been changed to be themed to Harry Potter. Some say they like it and some say they liked the Dueling Dragons queue better.
