Photo Update: Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is almost finished

by Tharin White

With less than two months until the grand opening, Toy Story Land’s construction is nearing completion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This photo report, with shots provided by our contributor, @bioreconstruct on Twitter, checks out the finishing progress on this upcoming land.

This first shot zooms in on the upcoming Alien Swirling Saucers attraction. This ride will be like Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree at Disney California Adventure, but instead themed to the Little Green Aliens from the Toy Story films.

These photos give the first look at the marquee for the upcoming attraction. The height limit for Alien Swirling Saucers will be 32″.

Across from Alien Swirling Saucers will be Woody’s Lunch Box and a set of restrooms. Woody’s Lunch Box will be a quick service location that offers school lunch inspired meals.

Walking down the path from Woody’s Lunch Box leads to the revamped entrance to Toy Story Midway Mania. This new entrance has currently caused construction and lower capacity inside the attraction. The ride is only using two of its three tracks at the moment and is not using Fastpass+. Once completed, the ride’s entrance will be inside Toy Story Land instead of Pixar Place. Guests will also take a new exit which will be close to the current Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge construction.

At the current entrance to Pixar Place, and near the Walt Disney Presents attraction, is the upcoming entrance for Toy Story Land. At first, this will be the only entrance into Toy Story Land, with a second entrance being available once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is complete. While nearly impossible to see, a tall Woody statue’s hat can be seen just above the tree line in the upcoming land.

The main attraction in the new land will be Slinky Dog Dash. This ride will be a dual-launching coaster, and will have a height requirement of 38″.

Riders will rise, drop, and traverse all over the upcoming land.

The ride will have numerous trains on the track at once. It is currently unknown how many trains can be used at once to maximize efficiency. It appears though that at least three trains can be stored behind the show building at one time. This could be the only storage, or perhaps an extra fourth and fifth train could be available as well.

Toy Story Land will open June 30, and we are hopeful for soft-openings beforehand. For more information on this upcoming land check out these videos.
