In addition to spooky lighting, the Empire State Building will host live games to test participants’ memories of blue, green, yellow and red patterns. Players who do well will see their names on the live game leaderboard.

The maximum player capacity for the event is 100,000 people and the game will be live on the building on Oct. 31, 2020 from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m. Residents in New York and New Jersey will be able to see the game from afar.

“This Halloween, we are excited to share a fun way to engage with not only locals with a view of the tower, but with people across the world,” Jean-Yves Ghazi, President of the Observatory said in a statement.”While Halloween may look different this year, ESB Simon will be a bright light in an otherwise spooky night.”

To play along head to Simon-Live.com on your phone and wait for the game to start. Levels of the building will flash in a series of colors and tones, so tap the corresponding building on your device to repeat the pattern correctly.

Every correct answer climbs you higher up the Empire State Building. Even if you make a mistake you can still play until the game is over! Simon Live has also launched an infinite play mode that allows players to practice ahead of the live event.
