Quassy amusement park’s 3D fireworks will benefit Give Kids The World

Quassy amusement park in Middlebury, Conn., is putting on a special July 3 fireworks display, and as part of the celebration they are donating $2 to Give Kids the World for each set of 3D fireworks viewing glasses that visitors purchase.

Quassy’s Independence Weekend fireworks display will take place at 10:15 p.m. over Lake Quassapaug, launching from barges anchored offshore, and special 3D glasses for viewing the bursts in spectacular style are available for $2, while they last.

“We put the ‘3D’ spin on our fireworks nearly 20 years ago and our guests really enjoy it,” said Quassy’s George Frantzis II. “Thanks to our presenting partners, the response continues to be phenomenal.”

Pepsi-Cola of Bristol, Price Chopper/Market 32 supermarkets, and Shaker Auto Group will sponsor the event, and while those visiting the amusement park and its Splash Away Bay water park will enjoy rides, shows, and attractions, the real winners are the youngsters staying at Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Fla., where wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses, and the families who love them.

Give Kids the World is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, and has enjoyed a long partnership with Quassy, which participates in the World Passport Program for affiliated families, allowing GKTW alumni to visit the park once, for the duration of one year.

Quassy has extended their July 3 celebration with the 8 p.m. Blast at the Beach party. For the added admission price of $10 per person (kids under 45 inches are free), revelers receive access to a special area of the beach, with a disc jockey and Splash Away Bay Café, where food and beverages will be available for purchase.
