Silverton Casino Hotel in Las Vegas celebrates the removal of Nevada’s pandemic restrictions with the splashy return of their popular Mermaid Swim shows and family-friendly interactive stingray feedings.
Silverton, just five miles south of the famous “Las Vegas Strip,” took part in the June 1 grand reopening of “The City That Never Sleeps,” once again giving guests an up-close view of the hotel’s Aquarium Las Vegas, where thousands of tropical fish and three species of stingrays and sharks make their homes in the enormous reefs of a 15-foot deep, 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium.
Among the highlights of Aquarium Las Vegas are the daily interactive stingray feedings at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. During each feeding, a staff aquarist wearing a full-face communication mask enters the tank to take quests’ questions and give insights into stingray lives and behaviors.
Named the “Best Free Attraction in Las Vegas,” the aquarium also features the crowd-pleasing Mermaid Swims, with fantastical mermaids mingling with the sea life, blowing “starfish kisses,” posing for photos, performing watery stunts such as back flips and pirouettes, and creating bubble hearts.
“The stingray feedings and mermaid swims are a fan favorite at the property, so we’re beyond thrilled to bring back this unique experience for the first time in over a year. I can’t wait to see the mermaids in the aquarium and interacting with our guests.”
Mermaid Swim shows take place Thursday through Saturday at 12-1:15 p.m., 2-3:15 p.m., and 5-8:15 p.m., plus Sunday from 10:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m., 2-3:15 p.m., and 5-6:45 p.m. The mermaid shows and stingray feedings are both free, and the aquarium area is open 24/7.
Guests ages 21 and up can also experience the themed Mermaid Lounge, located right next to the aquarium, and enjoy a laid-back menu, interesting cocktails, and two glowing 500-gallon jellyfish aquariums, plus live entertainment Friday through Saturday from 4-7 p.m. The Mermaid Restaurant & Lounge serves pizza, chicken tenders, burgers, and wings, and is open from 5 p.m. – 1 a.m. with food served until 10 p.m.
