Remodeled Lego store at Downtown Disney reopens – Photos and Video

by

The newly remodeled Lego Imagination Center reopened today. The store is much larger and features many new Disney Lego sculptures. Here’s a video and photos giving you a quick look around. For a full guided tour of the store, watch Episode 21 of Orlando Attractions Magazine – The Show this Thursday.

As you can see above, a large model of Maleficent in her dragon form is on the east side of the store. A very brave Lego man on horseback is ready to fight. Let’s start with a video showing some of the highlights before we go into the detailed photos.

Just on the other side of Maleficent is a play area. It’s about the same as it was before but on the other side of the store. The slide and clubhouse are gone, but there’s still a track to race your creations with wheels.

Facing the lake, and Brickly the Sea Serpant (who will be getting spruced up soon but isn’t leaving) is a model of Buzz and Woody from Toy Story, blasting off.

Snow White gives Dopey a kiss on the head as their furry friends stand by.

The rest of the dwarves are near by, working at their mine.

Most of the inside of the store is the same as before, but with much more space. The inside is lacking large sculptures except for this one of Woody. But Buzz is supposed to join him tomorrow and a full-size Lightning McQueen from Cars will be arriving soon.

This room is a new addition. Lego classes and birthday parties will be held in here.

This display showcases some Lego store exclusives.

Yes, kids can still custom build their own Lego figures.

The virtual reality screen is still available. When you hold certain Lego boxes up, it shows what the model looks like put together. You can move it around to see all sides and watch as it comes to life.

This popular wall of colored Legos is still available.

Be sure to watch Episode 21 of Orlando Attractions Magazine – The Show as the Justin Tripp, vice president of the Lego retail stores, gives you a full tour of the newly remodeled store.

I like the expansion but I guess the new look leaves some to be desired. Must be the conformity to the hyperion wharf theme but I liked the yellow entry with the circular lights; that looked very modern and now it looks very archaic. Plus I don’t get why the gutters weren’t paintede. Though i gotta say the interior looks nice I think they may have shortened the Pick-A-Brick wall. However it looks like I see rare colors in that image.
