The $250 million private island in the Bahamas combines thrills and ways to chill, from plunging down the tallest waterslide in North America to traveling up to 450 feet in the air in the Up, Up and Away helium balloon. For those looking for relaxation, Perfect Day has the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, Oasis Lagoon; and white sand beaches with clear tropical water.

“With Perfect Day at CocoCay, we are so proud to bring our 50-year legacy of innovation ashore to transform an incredible island that now completely revolutionizes private destinations in the vacation industry,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “It is exciting to see what we have dreamed up finally come to life; our guests truly are in for an experience unlike any other.”

Perfect Day at CocoCay is exclusive to guests aboard the Royal Caribbean cruise line. From ports in Florida and in the Northeast, cruisers can visit the private island by sailing on 11 of the cruise line’s ships.

At the heart of the island is Thrill Waterpark, which features 13 waterslides and the Caribbean’s largest wave pool, as well as the Adventure Pool with a family-friendly obstacle course. Highlights of the waterpark include:

  • Daredevil’s Tower – seven single-rider waterslides, including the 135-foot-tall Daredevil’s Peak, the tallest waterslide in North America. This area also includes drop slides, racing flume slides, a high-speed vertical slide, and an aqua tube slide.
  • Splash Summit – six multi-rider slides, including a zero-gravity slide for four, a winding tube slide for two on a tandem raft, and four-lane racing slides.
  • Wave Pool – the largest wave pool in the Caribbean, where a timer on the back wall counts down to the start of the waves.
  • Adventure Pool – an interactive obstacle course on water features, including floating lily pads, a rock-climbing wall and two swing ropes.

On Up, Up and Away, guests can get a view like no other from a colorful helium balloon tethered to the ground by cable. This attraction floats up to 450 feet above Perfect Day at CocoCay, and is the highest vantage point in the Bahamas.

Over at Oasis Lagoon, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, guests can spend time with family, share cocktails with friends, or explore three distinct coves. Families with smaller children can enjoy water features and take advantage of the kid-friendly beach entry. The south side of the lagoon offers a swim-up bar, three swim-up islands with in-water loungers, and private cabanas with their own attendants.

At Captain Jack’s, the island’s hangout spot, guests can get a drink at the rowboat bar and snack on the house specialty – chicken wings and fries dipped in sauces like mango-habanero and Caribbean jerk. Another option is Skipper’s Grill, which offers complimentary lunchtime fare like salads, sandwiches, tacos, burgers, fruit and desserts.

Kids have plenty to enjoy at Perfect Day, thanks to Captain Jill’s Galleon – which offers three dry slides, 16 water cannons, rope features, a splash bad, and more. Splashaway Bay is another option, an aqua park with fountains, sprinklers, geysers, two drench buckets and five waterslides.

For those looking for more high-flying adventures the 1,600-foot-long zipline course is perfect. The course will take guests across the island, starting near the arrivals plaza and ending across the harbor.

Over on Chill Island, guests can dine at Chill Grill, or enjoy beach activities like snorkeling, jet-skiing, and relaxing in the shade of cabanas – plus beach bars with roaming bartenders.

At South Beach, guests can show off their competitive side with volleyball, beachside basketball, soccer and paddle boarding. Afterward, head over to Snack Shack for a bite or cool off with a drink from the floating bar.

Set to open in December is the Coco Beach Club, where travelers will experience an upscale take on the island’s Caribbean atmosphere. The beach club will feature the first overwater cabanas in the Bahamas, each with its own slide into the ocean, an overwater hammock, shower, and dedicated attendant; a 2,600-plus-foot Infinity Pool; and a dedicated club and deck area.
