runDisney announces in-person 2021-2022 race weekends

runDisney has announced details for the upcoming 2021-2022 race season, and for the first time in what feels like forever for runDisney runners, in-person racing is returning to Walt Disney World. The season will include four on-site race weekends with a virtual option also offered for every runDisney race.

Here are the key dates and details for the runDisney 2021-2022 race season:

Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend powered by AfterShokz: Nov. 4-7, 2021

Races for the Wine & Dine weekend include a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Disney Two Course Challenge (10K and half marathon), with in-person and virtual options available for all four events.

Registration opens on July 6, 2021 at 10 a.m. ET for Club runDisney Gold & Platinum Members, and July 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. ET for general registration. Proof of run time is due by Aug. 17, 2021.

Themed ‘Wickedly Delicious,’ this year’s Wine & Dine weekend will showcase Disney villains and will bring back the popular Post-Race Party at Epcot, capping off the race weekend with after-hours access for runners and their families and friends during the International Food & Wine Festival. Post-Race Party tickets are included with half-marathon registration and available for $89 per person for runners’ family, friends, and runners of other weekend races.

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend: Jan. 5-9, 2022

Races for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend include a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, Goofy (Half + Marathon), and Dopey (all four races), with in-person and virtual options available for all four races.

Registration opens on July 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. ET for Club runDisney Gold & Platinum Members, and July 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. ET for general registration. Proof of run time is due by Oct. 12, 2021

Walt Disney World’s 2022 Marathon Weekend will be themed to the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. Initial artwork features the same “EARidescent” color scheme used elsewhere in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration.

Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend: Feb. 24-27, 2022

Races for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend include a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Disney Two Course Challenge (10K and half marathon), with in-person and virtual options available for all four races.

Registration opens on Aug. 17, 2021 at 10 a.m. ET for Club runDisney Gold & Platinum Members, and Aug. 24, 2021 at 10 a.m. ET for general registration. Proof of run time is due by Nov. 23, 2021.

The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend will continue to showcase Disney’s iconic princesses. Event artwork features Mulan, Cinderella, Moana, and Tiana. The weekend will also feature a new offering, Disney Princess Sunrise Yoga, a professionally led yoga session at Magic Kingdom Park in front of Cinderella Castle before the park opens.

runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend presented by Otterbox: March 31 – April 3, 2022

Replacing Star Wars Rival Run Weekend, the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend’s theme will feature varying race themes and distances each year. Theme and races for this year’s race weekend have yet to be revealed. 

A Shift in Offerings for Kids

runDisney Kids Adventures will replace the runDisney Kids races during each race weekend and will focus on health, fitness, and fun for kids.
