SeaWorld Abu Dhabi celebrates its grand opening
The newest – and most spectacular – SeaWorld park, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi at Yas Island, celebrated its grand opening on May 22, 2023, with an immersive sound and light show and performances by Emirati superstar Hussain Al Jassmi, Scottish recording artist Red, and a 120-piece orchestra.
Billed as the “next-generation marine life theme park,” the first international SeaWorld park was developed by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment in partnership with leading immersive destinations and experiences creator Miral.

The grand opening event was held in the One Ocean realm, featuring the One Epic Ocean show that includes multimedia and state-of-the-art spatial audio that brings the ocean’s wonders to life on a 15-meter-tall and 218-meter-wide 360-degree screen.

The Realms of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi
Encompassing five indoor levels and over 183,000 square meters, the park tells the One Ocean story through eight immersive realms, each designed to transport guests to different marine environments across the globe and featuring unique family-friendly experiences, up-close animal encounters, and animal presentations.
- One Ocean – The park’s core shares the One Ocean story through highly-immersive media. The realm is also home to the Animal Care Center and portals to the rest of the park.
- Abu Dhabi Ocean – Invites guests to discover the unique marine life of the Arabian Gulf.
- Rocky Point – Guests will see sea lions and harbor seals in a hidden cove inspired by the USA’s Pacific Northwest
- Tropical Ocean – Features a vibrant rainforest and stunning blue lagoon with dolphins, flamingos, fish, and birds.
- MicroOcean – Kids can explore the microscopic world as plankton to learn that being small can have a big impact.
- Endless Ocean – Guests will see the world’s largest multi-species marine life aquarium, featuring over 68,000 marine animals and an astounding 25 million liters of water.
- Arctic and Antarctica realms of Polar Ocean – Guests will enjoy icy seascapes and learn about the unique habits of polar species.
Experiences, Entertainment, and Attractions
SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is also home to 100 animal experiences and presentations, where guests can learn about marine animals, including dolphins, sharks, and sea turtles, and experience ten up-close animal encounters and over 20 live characters and performances.
In addition, the park’s 15 rides and attractions include the Manta Coaster at Tropical Ocean, the Hypersphere 360o in Polar Ocean’s Arctic Realm, and several family-friendly rides in MicroOcean like Turtle Twist.
SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is the latest addition to Yas Island’s theme parks and attractions collection, joining Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and CLYMB Abu Dhabi.
