Secret Cinema to turn Disney movies into immersive experiences

Audiences may soon be able to immerse themselves in their favorite Disney films, thanks to Secret Cinema, the U.K. company behind movie-themed experiences.

Secret Cinema is a unique movie-screening experience that combines film with live music, art, theater, and dance to create inhabitable worlds that audiences can explore. Past experiences include “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back,” “William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet,” “Blade Runner: The Final Cut,” and “Moulin Rouge!”.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the London-based company and Walt Disney Studios have signed a multi-title agreement to create experiences based on some of Disney’s memorable films.

The titles that will be adapted have not been revealed yet, but Secret Cinema will team up with Disney’s StudioLAB, a “storytelling laboratory hub,” to create the event worlds.

The first experience will premiere in London later this year, though the deal also includes plans for Secret Cinema to expand across the pond with events planned for Los Angeles and New York.
