Universal Studios Hollywood has shared new details for their upcoming attraction, “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!”
Opening on March 27, 2020, this attraction will include 64 animatronics to this tech-savvy ride based on Illumination’s “The Secret Life of Pets” franchise, all to answer the question: “What are your pets really doing when you’re not at home?”
This new ride will feature the original voice talent from “The Secret Life of Pets” films, including Patton Oswalt as Max, Kevin Hart as Snowball, Eric Stonestreet as Duke, Jenny Slate as Gidget, Tiffany Haddish as Daisy, Lake Bell as Chloe, Dana Carvey as Pops, Chris Renaud as Norman, Hannibal Buress as Buddy, Bobby Moynihan as Mel, and Jessica DiCicco as Princess.
On the ride, guests will be transformed into stray puppies as they head out on a journey to become adopted. The 64 animated figures will be transformed into living creatures through blinking eyes, eye and eyebrow movements, head tilts and nods, moving mouths and smiles, ear and lip curls, to full-on torso twists and actual walking.
The ride vehicles will resemble cardboard boxes, in which guests will travel along a track toward the Pet Adoption event and their happy ending. The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash! will feature state-of-the-art optical enhanced gesture-tracking technology, which helps identify each guest as one of 15 stray puppies for the duration of the ride.
This attraction will also utilize Virtual Line, which allows guests to reserve a time to ride and not have to wait in line. Guests may do this through the official Universal Studios Hollywood app, or via the Virtual Line kiosk in the New York City subway station adjacent to the ride.
The ride’s queue will invite guests to explore the area at their leisure and roam about the ride’s corridors, similar to Katie’s NYC apartment building from the films. Guests will see Buddy’s apartment, Snowball owner Molly’s living room, and Max and Duke’s apartment.
The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash! will be located on Pets Place, formerly known as Baker Street, adjacent to Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem and Super Silly Fun Land.
