Sesame Place San Diego is now open for family fun in the sun

Get ready for days filled with sunshine, imagination, family fun, rides and water slides. Sesame Place San Diego is now open for all to come and enjoy. This new 17-acre park took over the pre-existing San Diego Aquatica. It now brings new dry attractions, as well as re-themed water slides, character experiences and more.

This is the second Sesame Place stand-alone park in the U.S., and it joins numerous parks across the globe to have Sesame Street offerings. Not too long ago, Sesame Street Land opened at SeaWorld Orlando. Many of the fan-favorite offerings there can be seen at this new park.

What to Expect and Do at Sesame Place San Diego

The park is as a Certified Autism Center (CAC), offering specialized services to guests with autism and other special needs. Through a partnership with The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), Sesame Place Team Members receive specialized training to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, temperament, and expertise to cater to all guests.

Alongside the re-imagined water attractions, there are also new dry rides. Guests can enjoy Abby’s Fairy Flight, a family swing ride themed after everyone’s favorite fairy-in-training; Rub-A-Dub Sub, go around and around both forward and backward on the S.S. Duckie pirate boat ride style attraction; Sunny Day Carousel, a cute, colorful, classic ride that’s perfect for everyone; or even Super Grover’s Box Car Derby, this family-friendly coaster is full of fun hills, big turns, and mini-dives.

Along with the character interactions, water slides and dry attractions, there are also shows and parades. Guests can enjoy a singing and dancing show, “Welcome To Our Street,” where Elmo, Abby, Grover, Rosita, and Cookie Monster welcome everyone to Sesame Street, shown below. And, shown above, the “Sesame Street Party Parade,” which brings out dancers and popular Sesame Street characters.

This park will be open 365 days a year, weather permitting. A standard one day ticket starts at $65, with season passes starting at $132.
