Seven Hidden Details at the Disneyland Hotel in Paris
The Disneyland Hotel reopened at Disneyland Paris Resort in January 2024, with reimagined royally-themed guest rooms featuring magical touches from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tangled,” “Frozen,” “Moana,” and “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
In addition to the hotel’s reimagined décor, Disney Imagineers also worked with Walt Disney Animation Studios artists to hide a few “Easter eggs,” including a “Frozen 2” deleted scene and subtle references to several Disney Legends.
Seven Hidden Details at the Disneyland Hotel
1. Disney Storytelling Brought to Life
Fifteen dioramas in the hotel’s lobby highlight scenes from iconic Disney Animation stories. Each honors a technique that Walt Disney and his animation artists invented, including the multiplane camera, which gave the illusion of depth by superimposing layers of transparent painted animation cels.
2. Royal Origin Story
When guests enter the Royal Banquet’s Prologue room, they discover the origin stories of Disney royals, including Arthur from “The Sword in the Stone” and Rapunzel from “Tangled.” When deciding how to present the beginning of the “Frozen” story, Imagineers decided to include a deleted scene from “Frozen 2” depicting young Agnarr and Iduna (Anna and Elsa’s parents) meeting for the first time in the Enchanted Forest.
3. Keep an Ear Out
At the Crystal Pool & Health Club, guests will want to listen to music from beloved Disney films, including “Atlantis: The Lost Empire,” “Raya and the Last Dragon,” “Pocahontas,” and “Moana.”
4. The Best Story on the Shelf
In the Beauty and the Beast Signature Suite, guests are transported to Beast’s Castle with baroque architecture and even the Enchanted Rose on display, but if they look closely at the bookshelves, they’ll find a reference to Disney Legend Howard Ashman (the lyricist behind the movie’s beloved songs) on the binding of a book.
5. The Castle Club
The Castle Club Lounge offers a spectacular view of the Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty Castle), but the window panels are also engraved with other Disney Castles. The railings are also inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair’s designs for “Cinderella.”
6. Classic Designs
Tabletops at the Royal Kids Club are embellished with illumination patterns originally designed by Disney Legend Eyvind Earle, who was responsible for the art direction of “Sleeping Beauty.” The table designs come from the book shown at the movie’s beginning.
7. Continuing the Legacy
Porcelain figures of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella that were previously in their respective suites before the royal transformation of the hotel now have a place of honor on display at the Castle Club level of the rotunda.
