The royal details behind the re-imagined, five-star Disneyland Hotel in Paris, now open

Disneyland Hotel is now open at Disneyland Paris following its re-imagining, offering a five-star experience inspired by royal Disney characters.

Disneyland Hotel sits at the front gate of Disneyland Park, one of two theme parks at Disneyland Paris. The hotel first opened with the resort in 1992, with some of its rooms offering views of Main Street, U.S.A.

This property is not to be confused with the hotel of the same name at Disneyland Resort in California. We’re talking about Disneyland Hotel in Paris here.

The hotel closed in 2021 for a major renovation (though Disneyland Paris itself remained open). During the hotel’s two-year closure, Cast Members and Imagineers left no guest room, common area, restaurant, or amenity untouched.

The before-and-after comparisons below demonstrate just how extensive the re-imagining was.

The bones may remain the same, but by and large this is a new hotel, at least on the inside. Disneyland Hotel is the only five-star lodging selection at Disneyland Paris.

The accommodations now celebrate Disney royals — and as we’ll see in a moment, that doesn’t just mean the princesses. Disney collaborated with over 200 European companies to furnish the fine details of the hotel’s makeover. For example, an artist in Czech Republic crafted the lobby chandelier in the shape of Sleeping Beauty Castle from Bohemian crystal.

Disneyland Hotel officially reopened Jan. 25, 2024, with Mickey Mouse and several dozen Cast Members warmly greeting the first guests in the new lobby.

Guest Rooms

The hotel features nearly 500 guest rooms across several categories: 346 Superior Rooms, 82 Deluxe Rooms, 41 Castle Club Rooms, 16 Castle Club Signature Suites, one live-action “Beauty and the Beast” Princely Suite, and one “Frozen” Royal Suite.

Let’s take a look at each category.

Superior and Deluxe Rooms

Superior Rooms sleep four to five guests and feature artwork from Disney animated films based on royalty. Embellishments in the carpet (like Rapunzel’s golden hair, for instance) match whichever film is featured in the room’s art.

Room themes include “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tangled,” “Frozen,” “Moana,” and “Raya and the Last Dragon.”

Deluxe Rooms are similar, but add a luminescent canopy and animated enhancements to the room’s framed artwork. Guests staying in Deluxe Rooms also receive access to the Deluxe Lounge, which serves snacks and drinks all day, plus breakfast in the morning.

During a mock check-out, we didn’t see an option to choose a preferred movie theme for Superior or Deluxe Rooms.

The Castle Club

Disney describes the Disneyland Hotel’s Castle Club as a “hotel within a hotel.” This upper tier represents 10% of the property’s guest rooms. Stays in any Castle Club-level room or suite come with access to the Castle Club Lounge (see below).

Standard Castle Club Rooms are similar in style to Superior and Deluxe Rooms, but come with the Castle Club perks and prestige.

Castle Club Signature Suites boast more elaborate, themed details focused on “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Tangled,” and “Frozen.”

Look closely — some of the Signature Suites contain magical objects connected to Disney princesses. Cinderella’s glass slipper, Aurora’s dress, and Belle’s rose all appear with enchanting effects in their respective suites.

During a mock check-out, we were able to select our choice of movie theme for our Signature Suite. If none appear as an option during check-out, they may all be occupied for that date (there are only 16).

The one and only Princely Suite is themed to 2017’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast” remake. The baroque style evokes that film’s more grounded take on the classic fantasy’s aesthetic.

Also one of a kind, the “Frozen” Royal Suite is elegantly Arendelle, complete with a view of Sleeping Beauty Castle outside.

French Cuisine, Castle Views, and Kronk (!) at Disneyland Hotel Restaurants

From casual bites to fine dining, Disneyland Hotel has several restaurants. Royal Banquet hosts a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu features seafood, grilled meats, and vegetarian plates.

Cold cuts with deep cuts: The seafood spread at Royal Banquet and, in the background, portraits feature Disney characters who cook for royalty: the stove from “Beauty and the Beast” and Kronk from “The Emperor’s New Groove.”

The walls of Royal Banquet are adorned with newly created portraits of royal (or royal-adjacent) Disney characters. The selection of portrait subjects is inspired. Sure, there are plenty of regulars, like Aurora and Merida. Here also, though, are a generous helping of Disney deep cuts: Kronk from “The Emperor’s New Groove,” Kida from “Atlantis: The Lost Empire,” and King Candy from “Wreck-It Ralph,” among others.

Mickey and Minnie are on hand for lunch and dinner at Royal Banquet. Breakfast and dinner at Royal Banquet are only available to guests staying overnight at Disneyland Hotel. All guests, regardless of hotel accommodations, are welcome for lunch. Reserve a table here.

La Table de Lumière serves a fine-dining dinner for Disneyland Hotel overnight guests only. The restaurant’s design is inspired by the ballroom sequence in “Beauty and the Beast.” Character couples join guests for dinner. Royals who ,ight stop by include Aurora and Philip, Belle and her prince, or Tiana and Naveen. Peruse the menu here and make a reservation here.

For a casual option, Fleur de Lys Bar serves cocktails, afternoon tea, and snacks. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Deluxe Lounge and Castle Club Lounge are exclusive to overnight guests of their respective tiers. Both serve breakfast, as well as all-day snacks and drinks. During breakfast at the Castle Club Lounge, diners are joined by various princesses, including Cinderella, Aurora, Rapunzel, Merida, or Moana.

Amenities Catered to Kids

Throughout Disneyland Hotel, guests can experience several complementary and for-purchase amenities. My Royal Dream is akin to the familiar Bibbidi-Bobbidi Boutique makeover sessions. Kids or adults can receive a hair and makeup transformation to become a princess or prince (for €95, or about $103), complete with a photo session. Kids ages 3-14 can also pick out a costume (for a total experience cost of €190, or about $206). Reservations for My Royal Dream are only available through the Disneyland Paris app. Guests can reserve their spot up to a month in advance.

The Royal Kids Club, themed to a library, offers free childcare for guests ages 4-11 for up to two hours.

Pricing is a bit all over the map. Disneyland Hotel is the most expensive of the eight Disneyland Paris accommodations. Beyond that, the cost of a trip fluctuates aggressively based on room type, amount of people, time of the year, and day of the week. Estimates are especially tricky given that the only price Disneyland Paris shows online is the package that comes with park tickets. Hotel-only reservations require a phone call.

For what it’s worth, during a mock check-out, we priced the vacation package cost (including park admission) for 2 adults staying one night in a Superior Room at Disneyland Hotel on a weekend in March. The total cost for everything was €1,347 (about $1,463).

More from Disneyland Paris Resort

The reopening of Disneyland Hotel is the latest event in a season of growth for Disneyland Paris Resort, which will continue in the coming years.

In 2021, the resort unveiled a similarly approached (but very differently themed) revamped hotel focused on Marvel artwork. In 2022, Walt Disney Studios Park opened Avengers Campus, complete with a clone of the “Spider-Man” ride from Disney California Adventure, as well as the Marvel-fication of the park’s former Rock ‘n Roller Coaster attraction.

Other recent additions include a live Pixar musical and a drone show honoring the Main Street Electrical Parade. Looking ahead, major changes at Disney Village and a “Frozen” land at Walt Disney Studios Park are on the way.
