The countdown to Shanghai Disney Resort’s 5th Birthday Celebration is already underway, and now the resort has presented yet another “magical surprise” inside the Enchanted Storybook Castle — a fashion show that revealed the all-new celebratory costumes for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and Duffy and his friends.
As the resort’s biggest celebration to date — and with Shanghai Disneyland’s Enchanted Storybook Castle featuring so prominently in the park — the collection was created as pieces of moving art with festive elements including confetti, gifts, and streamers and a color palette of ivory and champagne gold. One of the biggest “wow factors” about the new costumes is the 5s hidden throughout.
With different designs created for each Disney character, here are some of the highlights guests will see during the “Year of Magical Surprises”:
- Featuring a purple, ivory, and champagne gold color motif, the outfits designed for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse evoke a sense of glamor to match the occasion’s elegance ribbons and gifts featured in their costumes and accessories.
- Donald and Daisy’s outfits will feature blue as an accent color with stripes showcasing modern tailoring and the designers’ attention to detail.
- Chip ‘n’ Dale will be dressed in green party outfits that echo the duo’s fun-loving personalities.
- Special color palettes of orange and red were specially designed for Pluto and Goofy, respectively, with cravats to create a fun yet formal look.
- Duffy and Friends will appear in brilliantly colored costumes that tie together the resort’s various birthday elements with delightful Disney touches.
Also unveiled today were the costumes for Disney performers and the Surprise Squad. The new costumes for the Disney performers, inspired by Art Deco elements on some of Shanghai’s most iconic buildings, feature a champagne gold color palette and colorful lines with shimmering stars representing the excitement of the celebration. The all-new Surprise Squad’s costumes incorporate a confetti pattern to emphasize the party atmosphere and specially designed straw hats featuring iconic Mickey ears.
Guests can catch the Disney performers in their new costumes — along with an all-new three-layer birthday cake float — ahead of Mickey’s Storybook Express parade, as well as part of the Disney “Surprise!” show, which will be presented daily on the Pepsi E-stage in Tomorrowland.
The Surprise Squad Cast will pop up throughout the park at various times and locations to present guests with magical surprises for the duration of the resort’s year-long celebration.
