Sheraton Safari Hotel purchased with plans for a $25 million redevelopment

The Sheraton Safari Hotel and Suites near Downtown Disney has been sold and the new owners are planning a $25 million redevelopment project that should be completed by spring 2012.

The renovation cost per room is about $50,000, and will include “a spectacular pool complex, expanded and updated conference facilities, and beautifully revamped guestrooms and family suites, as well as a new fitness center, upgraded contemporary restaurant and lounge, and an update of all public spaces of the hotel.” The new owners are Area Property Partners and Winston Harton Holdings.

The hotel, located on the corner of Apopka-Vineland Road and Palm Parkway, will include 393 guest rooms, 90 suites, and six executive suites, as well as several banquet and conference rooms, including a grand ballroom and a 6,200 square-foot conference center. There will also be a new pool complex, which will feature “multiple cascading pools, water game amenities and slides, a wet deck and pool café,” set against a backdrop of palm trees.
