Silverwood theme park will debut the Stunt Pilot coaster in 2021

For eight years (1988-1996), Silverwood theme park in Athol, Idaho (about 47 miles from Spokane, Wash.) was the only theme park in the world to feature daily air shows for its guests. In 2021, the park will honor its high-flying history with Stunt Pilot, a stunt plane-themed roller coaster.

Before the first roller coaster was built at Silverwood, the park consisted of traditional carnival rides, an authentic steam train that circled the property, and a small village where guests could watch vintage airplanes loop through the air from the Main Street lawn. Through the years, Silverwood has grown from a small local amusement park to a regional theme park destination with nearly 40 rides, including four high-intensity coasters.

In summer 2021, Stunt Pilot, the park’s newest single-rail high-speed coaster, will put riders right in the cockpit of a Pitts Special biplane. The 10-person trains will climb over 105 feet into the sky and “fly” around sharp hairpin turns and complete aerobatic maneuvers through three inversions at a top speed of 52 miles per hour before returning to the hanger.

To make sure they don’t miss the chance to be among the first to ride Stunt Pilot next summer, thrill-seekers can take advantage of the 2021 Silverwood season pass early bird sale. Now through Nov. 20, 2020, new season passes are discounted up to 33% off regular-season pricing. Plus, 2020 season pass holders will receive a $20 discount off each single-season pass and $50 off each Gold Pass when they renew for the 2021 season.
