Six Flags Fiesta Texas announces new racing coaster and water park expansion
San Antonio’s Six Flags Fiesta Texas will open the world’s first single-rail family racing roller coaster and expand its White Water Bay water park in 2023.
Texas’ First Racing Coaster
The world’s first-of-its-kind single–rail family racing roller coaster (and Texas’ only racing roller coaster) will run two trains at the same time on separate, interweaving tracks. The ride’s name is yet to be announced, but it will be located in the park’s Spassburg area with a length of 550 feet and LED lighting on its track.
Skyline Attractions will manufacture the coaster as one of its P’Sghetti Bowl models, named so because its track is “as twisted as a bowl of spaghetti!” Skyline’s portfolio of previous roller coaster builds includes numerous recipients of Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards: InvadR at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Tidal Twister at SeaWorld San Diego, and Texas Stingray at SeaWorld San Antonio.
Water Park Expansion
The adjacent White Water Bay water park will welcome a new kids’ area with 11 new slides and raft rides in 2023. While full details are still under wraps, the park revealed among the new additions will be kid-friendly versions of the favorite TornadoWAVE, Tornado 12, and ProRACER rides.
More 2023 Additions
Elsewhere throughout Six Flags Fiesta Texas, in 2023 guests can enjoy the new Roller Coaster Coffee establishment and an e-sports gaming center. Also new is the Coca-Cola VIP Lounge, complimentary for diamond passholders or accessible for a fee to other guests.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas commemorated its 30th anniversary and opened Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger roller coaster in 2022. As the park continues to celebrate its history, it will refurbish a number of classic experiences for 2023. These include improved trains and a new operating system for Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster, a third train for Iron Rattler, upgraded trains with softer harnesses and a new braking system for Boomerang, and the restoration of multiple engines for Fiesta Texas Railroad.
“Six Flags Fiesta Texas continues to invest in the guest experience and innovation with the announcement of a robust lineup of exciting attractions, and premium enhancements, to the park for the 2023 season,” said Jeffrey Siebert, park president. “A new first-of-its kind family racing roller coaster and a selection of family waterslides complement new amenities and other improvements that will offer an elevated guest experience.”
Six Flags Fiesta Texas is open year-round. White Water Bay water park will be open Apr. 29 – Sept. 4 for the 2023 season.
