Six Flags removing park presidents at all locations
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation removed 27 park presidents from their roles across the company’s collection of amusement parks.

No more park presidents at Six Flags parks
The Orange Country Register shared the confirmed news on May 23, 2025.
“Six Flags Entertainment recently moved to a new regional operating structure,” the company said in a statement to the OC Register. “Under this new alignment, we have centralized certain functions and responsibilities at the corporate level.”

The number of 27 refers to Six Flags’ 27 amusement parks — all of them. (The company is also comprised of 15 water parks, whose leadership carries over from whichever Six Flags amusement park it’s adjacent to.)
Six Flags saga
Six Flags CEO Richard Zimmerman previously shared a restructuring of “multiple senior executive leadership positions at the corporate level” during the company’s quarterly earnings call on May 8, though at the time he didn’t mention names or positions. In total, over 10% of Six Flags’ full-time staff will be laid off, Zimmerman shared on the same call.
The news of the 27 park presidents’ removal comes just days after Six Flags’ Investor Day, an event held on May 20 during which executives shared the company’s big-picture goals through 2028, an effort it calls the “Great Reset.” Such initiatives include 58 million guests in annual attendance.
Cedar Fair and Six Flags merged in 2024 to become a new corporation with a combined portfolio of 42 parks, though that number will soon be slightly slimmer — Six Flags America near Baltimore, Md., and its adjacent Hurricane Harbor water park will both permanently close at the end of the 2025 season.

“Six Flags America near Baltimore, Md., and its adjacent Hurricane Harbor water park will both permanently close at the end of the 2025 season.”
What a strange way to put this – Six Flags America is not near Baltimore at all! Are they trying to downplay this because it sounds better than being truthful and putting it where it actually is – in a suburb of Washington, DC. Google “Six Flags America near Baltimore, Md” and the first thing that will come up is Six Flags’ website, with the heading “Six Flags America in Bowie, MD – Thrill Capital of DC”. Bowie is in Prince Georges County, a bedroom suburb of DC.
So just to be honest about it – Six Flags Entertainment Corporation is shutting down and abandoning it’s parks closest to our nation’s capitol!
“We have determined that Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor are not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan,” said Six Flags President and CEO Richard Zimmerman. The 500-acre park will be sold for redevelopment as the company moves to optimize its portfolio, leaders said.
The firm thats been buying up a few parks recently should also buy these two. That owner just bought Kennywood, and they own 50% of Dollywood, I think Branson Ozarks park and some others.
