What is SkyLake Indiana?

SkyLake Indiana

SkyLake in Indiana is a new, nature-based theme park being built in Sheridan, Ind., set to open its first phase in summer 2026. It will feature a six-acre lake with white sand beaches, water slides, water obstacles, an adventure zone, a tubing hill, and various family-friendly and adult-focused attractions, aiming to provide year-round experiences for visitors.

According to the theme park, thanks to an “exceptionally dry summer,” the park has completed its most complex phase. All major earthmoving occurred ahead of schedule. This should enhance the park’s ability to stay on schedule for the summer 2026 opening.

Foundations complete: A feat of engineering

SkyLake Indiana deployed a fleet of 13 earth-scrapers that moved an 570,000 cubic yards of dirt. This foundational work, which was the project’s biggest risk, is now materially complete.

“Since our groundbreaking in July, we’ve had perfect weather conditions, and we capitalized on them,” said Phil Sack, CEO of SkyLake. “Completing this foundational work so quickly de-risks the entire project and puts us in an incredible position as we head into winter.” The rapid progress, coordinated with partners at Alt Construction and Will Power Excavation, has cleared the path for the next chapter of construction, which will visually transform the site into the destination vacationers are anticipating.

The next phase: Sand, water, and towering landmarks at SkyLake Indiana

The coming weeks will be active, centered on creating the park’s six-acre lake and its surrounding amenities. Key upcoming milestones for SkyLake Indiana include:

  • Lake liner installation: The custom-fabricated lake liner, the “heart” of the destination, is already onsite. Installation, which involves complex rolling, sewing, and sealing, is set to begin this week and is expected to take four weeks to complete.
  • “Project Beach” commences: Starting in early December, the build-out of SkyLake’s signature family beach and adult island will begin. This involves a fleet of nine trucks running non-stop daily for three months to deliver 28,000 tons of pure white sand.
  • The lake fill starts: Following the successful installation of the liner, the process of filling the six-acre lake will begin the first week of December.
  • A new Hamilton County landmark: Construction on the all-season tubing hill has reached 80 feet, making it one of the highest points in all of Hamilton County and now clearly visible from U.S. Highway 31.

SkyLake Indiana: Vision becoming tangible

According to SkyLake, the team is confident that the swift completion of the earthmoving phase will keep the entire project on track for its grand opening. “The pace onsite is electric,” said Sean Howard, co-founder of SkyLake. “We’re not just building a park; we’re building a landmark for the region. Every day, the vision becomes more tangible, and we’re excited to continue to share our progress as we move closer to our opening season in summer 2026.”

SkyLake Indiana promises to be a year-round attraction, blending thrilling adventure with serene relaxation. For more information about SkyLake Indiana, consult the park’s official website.
