Smugglers Run has a secret Grogu mode — how to unlock it
Guests riding Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run are discovering major new updates inspired by The Mandalorian and Grogu, including expanded mission paths, additional interactivity, and a hidden “Grogu mode” Easter egg.

Attractions Magazine’s Matt Roseboom recently experienced the updated attraction multiple times and described the refresh as a significant upgrade to the ride’s replay value.
According to Matt’s firsthand experience, the update includes:
- Additional planets and destinations
- Increased rider interactivity with multiple paths besides just the new planets
- Improved visuals and new music
- Grogu communication moments during the mission
The attraction now offers guests multiple mission variations, encouraging repeat rides to experience different outcomes and destinations aboard the Millennium Falcon. One variation that does not change the outcome of the mission, just the atmosphere, is Grogu mode. Fans of the attraction may want to experience the updated missions normally first before attempting the newly discovered Grogu mode, as Mando doesn’t explain what is happening in this mode.
How to unlock Grogu mode on Smugglers Run
A hidden “Grogu mode” can be activated by guests seated in both middle gunner positions.
Before the mission begins, both gunners (the two middle seats) must first fasten their seatbelts, then before anyone at any of the other stations pushes any buttons, both gunners should hold down the back-most white square button in the row of four, and while holding it down, press the round button to activate their station.
If both riders complete the sequence correctly, Grogu appears on the Falcon’s communication screen, the lights all light up green, and the ride’s audio changes throughout the mission. Instead of the standard narration, riders hear Grogu’s sounds, reactions, and coos during much of the experience. The Cantina song also plays during Grogu mode when the Coruscant planet is chosen.
