‘Space Mountain’ movie in development with ‘Kenobi’ writer for Disney

Disney is bringing yet another classic attraction to the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter – Space Mountain.

Screenwriter Joby Harold, who is currently working on the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+, has been brought on to pen the script for a live-action adaptation.

Story details have yet to be revealed, but since the ride has no memorable “scenes” or characters like Pirates of the Caribbean or The Haunted Mansion, the attraction will instead serve as inspiration for an original story described as a “family adventure.”

The project is in early stages of development and is intended for theatrical release, rather than straight to Disney+ – which has been the new norm for Disney during the pandemic.

Considering Disney’s track record for attraction-inspired movies, what do you think about this news? Would you want to see a ‘Space Mountain’ movie, or is this doomed to be yet another flop? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
