‘Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge’ available now for Oculus Quest

“Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge,” the newest virtual reality (VR) experience from Lucasfilm’s ILMxLAB, is now available on Oculus Quest for $24.99.

The VR experience takes place on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu, the same location found in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the immersive land at both Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Players will take on the role of a droid repair technician operating near the planet, but when a group of Guavian Death Gang pirates attack, they’ll be forced to jettison the ship’s mysterious cargo and head for the escape pods. After crash-landing on Batuu, players will encounter never-before-seen areas and discover that anyone can become a hero.

Familiar faces will make an appearance in the game, including R2-D2, C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), and Mubo (Star Wars sound editor Matthew Wood), the owner of Black Spire Outpost’s Droid Depot. A few new faces include Seezelslak (Bobby Moynihan, “Saturday Night Live”), a talkative cantina owner with a knack for telling stories; and Guavian Death Gang cell leader Tara Rashin (Debra Wilson, “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order”).

Along with the main campaign, players will visit new eras and locations through Seezelslak’s Tales, anthological stories where they’ll take on the starring role. The first installment is “Temple of Darkness,” set during The High Republic era. Players will play as Ady Sun’Zee (voiced by Ellie Araiza), a Jedi Padawan who teams up with Master Yoda (Frank Oz) to confront a sinister force.
