“Brilliance needed, inquire within,” hails the banner outside of a new hands-on, purpose-built hub for science, technology, engineering, art, and math education — aka S.T.E.A.M. education — at Give Kids the World Village (GKTW) in Kissimmee, Fla. The facility is called Mayor Clayton’s WonderLab, named after the bunny mascot of GKTW, and opened July 10, 2024.

Tween and teen makers, inventors, and creators visiting GKTW are invited to join the “WonderBots” for a series of ST.E.A.M. education activities, including:

  • stop-motion video creation
  • 3D printing
  • button and sticker-making
  • paper airplane workshops
  • learning how to operate an animatronic
  • hydraulic machine-building

An area of the WonderLab called the Puzzle Portal features pipes designed by students at Osceola High School in Kissimmee.

“The WonderLab is designed to spark new interests, excitement, and hope for teens and tweens who visit Give Kids the World Village as part of our ongoing effort to create magical experiences and unforgettable memories for every member of the family,” said Ian Cole, chief innovation officer at Give Kids the World.
